Juniors and Seniors  Start Preparing Now!

Seniors in High School

• Are you on track for graduation? Adjust your schedule so that it fulfills your school’s requirements. Be sure to keep a balance of challenging subjects. Remember, colleges want you to pursue classes in all five academic areas.

• Sign up for the October SATs and ACTs (collegeboard.com and act.org). Take free practice tests offered on these websites. Review Geometry, Algebra I & II books and notes 10 minutes each night.

• When colleges visit your school, or have regional meetings, attend those of interest. Ask your counselor for dates.

• Talk to your teachers who will write your recommendations, and give them the required forms. Haven’t asked, yet? Do so quickly and respectfully!!

• Check out the College Scholarship Service Profile, available in your counselor’s office. You can also register online (collegeboard.com).

• For other scholarship opportunities, register with fastweb.com.

•Plan to buckle down this year and make strong grades. Colleges examine your junior schedule to see if you have academic stamina. Talk with your teachers/guidance counselor. They know your capabilities and will offer their expertise

•Check what colleges will be visiting your school and attend those meetings

•Prepare for the PSATs offered in October by taking practice tests, learning latin roots and reviewing your old math books.
